Beach Education Officer

The Beach Education Officer forms part of our annual Beach Education Program. This position would suit someone with strong verbal communication skills and an ability to work autonomously in a fast paced and busy team environment. The successful candidate will: 

• Be confident in navigating challenging conversations with a wide variety of people
• Have relevant experience in dog training and behaviour and enjoy educating beach goers about responsible dog ownership and compliance with the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995
• Work along Charles Sturt’s 11km of beaches (driving and walking patrols on the foreshore)
• Issue expiation notices (where necessary) for dogs off lead and/or not under effective control on the foreshore
• Be passionate about safe and respectful use of our shared public spaces and protecting our wildlife

This role operates on a seven (7) day roster (including some public holiday work), with hours increasing over the Summer holidays and requires some flexibility in availability dependent on weather, beach access and activity levels.

Community Safety Response Officer

The Community Safety Response Officer plays an important role in supporting community safety outside traditional business hours. Undertaking proactive patrols and responding to reactive requests, you'll help ensure parking availability is effectively managed while protecting and promoting positive community safety outcomes. Through an approach centred on education, encouragement and enforcement, you'll work with our community to support compliance and respond to community safety matters that require after-hours attendance.  The successful candidate will:

• Have highly effective interpersonal skills that represent the organisation professionally and positively
• Have strong verbal communication skills including the ability to actively listen, display empathy and understanding
• Have effective conflict management skills, exercising sound judgment and initiative
• Have strong attention to detail and well-developed time management skills
• Have a passion, care, and commitment to educating our community

To be considered for this role, you would need to be available between: Monday to Friday 4.00pm to 9.30pm, Saturday 9.00am to 9.30pm, Sunday and Public Holidays 9.00am to 8.00pm. Some on call availability is required.

Dog Registration Survey Officer

This role forms part of our annual dog registration survey program, helping to improve compliance with dog registration, microchipping and desexing requirements across our community. You will work closely with our Dog Registration Survey Administration Officer.

This position would suit someone with strong verbal communication skills and an ability to work autonomously in a fast paced and busy team environment. The successful candidate will: 

• Be able to work in the field, surveying residences in targeted areas
• Issue expiation notices to owners where their dogs are identified as unregistered, entire and/or not microchipped as identified by the Community Safety and Dog Registration Officers
• Have excellent attention to detail and ensure DACO is updated with relevant information

Please note, this role will require some flexibility in availability. Given this position is subject to available funding, it may finish up prior to 28 February 2026, or be extended beyond this period, depending on how the program is going.

About Our Team:

The Community Safety Team is focused on adopting a proactive and contemporary approach to effectively deliver a broad range of regulatory related activities while ensuring a positive customer experience. Actively engaged within the community, the team builds strong relationships with key stakeholders and customers by offering accurate information and guidance to support compliance with legislative requirements. 

The Details:

These positions are offered on a casual basis, and are classified at Level 2, with the hourly rate being in the range of $50.84- $55.27 (inclusive of casual loadings).

These positions are identified as prescribed positions and therefore require the successful candidate to maintain a current unprohibited National Police Clearance for Regulatory Requirements.

You will also be required to hold a current driver's licence.
