The City of Charles Sturt is entering a new chapter in how we support older people in our community.
As we shift towards a more holistic, prevention-focused approach, our role is evolving from direct service delivery to supporting older people stay active, connected and visible in community life, especially those who are isolated, hard to reach or less likely to engage with formal services.
About The Role:
As the Community Connector - Ageing Well, you will be a proactive, on-the-ground presence in our community, bringing people together and helping shape how Council supports its community to age well. You will coordinate and activate a diverse range of community-based initiatives and partnerships aligned to Council’s Ageing Well Model, supporting older residents across the six wellbeing pillars of Body, Brain, Mind, Connection, Purpose and Nature.
You will build genuine relationships with community organisations, local businesses and non-traditional partners, creating co-designed responses to diverse and emerging ageing, health and wellbeing needs. Working closely with our Community Information Officer, you will use your frontline insights to shape practical responses and make sure Ageing Well support reaches the people who need it most.

Our Ageing Well team sits within our Community Connections portfolio and supports older residents across our community to access services and resources that enrich their lives and foster a strong sense of wellbeing.
As we transition from the Commonwealth Home Support Program, we are reshaping our role, focusing on prevention, connection and enabling older people to remain active in their communities, while positioning Council as a connector, advocate and enabler.
The Detail:
The position is offered on a full-time, fixed-term basis until 30 June 2027 and is classified at Level 5, with a salary range of $103,798 to $108,265 per annum + Super + Annual Leave Loading.
A current unprohibited Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (Police check) must be maintained for the duration of the employment period in this prescribed position.
