About The Role:
Our Tree Establishment team are right at the heart of shaping a greener City of Charles Sturt. Working on the frontline of Council’s tree canopy improvement strategy, the team plays a hands-on role in creating cooler, healthier and more liveable neighbourhoods.
We currently have two opportunities available within the team, offering the chance to contribute to this important work.
The work changes with the seasons, offering variety across the year. During the cooler months, the focus is on planting trees that will grow for generations to come, while the warmer months are dedicated to supporting young trees through careful watering and establishment.
You’ll be based out in Council’s parks, gardens and streetscapes, working as part of a supportive and safety-focused team. The roles also offer flexibility in work patterns, with different hours during planting and watering seasons to suit the nature of the work:

Key Responsibilities:
You’ll get hands‑on with arboriculture work across our parks and streets, including street tree watering, tree planting and small tree maintenance, while safely operating and caring for arboriculture equipment to keep it in top condition. The role also involves keeping things running smoothly by maintaining accurate records such as timesheets, work forms, delivery dockets, contractor paperwork and Traffic Management Plans, using electronic devices for data entry, reporting and communication. Along the way, you’ll be a friendly and professional face of Council, interacting positively with members of the public and service providers.

About Our Team:
City Maintenance are equipped to care for open spaces in our beaches, reserves and parks, ensuring they are maintained and up to standard. This diverse portfolio is passionate and skilled in areas including property management and repair, irrigation, biodiversity, arboriculture, trees and sports turf, as well as program scheduling.
The Trees and Irrigation team is responsible for the development, enhancement and maintenance of trees and streetscapes, recreational reserves and sporting grounds. The team manage programmed and reactive work that involves detailed street tree pruning and care, and quality irrigation systems for attractive landscapes.
The Detail:
